IN THE BEGINNING
God’s family is traced back to the Creation of Adam and flows through those such as Seth, Noah, Shem and others to Abraham who is the Father of the Faithful. The bloodline continues through the promise child Isaac, then on to Jacob and several others. Some of the most notable from that point in history are David, Solomon and Zerubbabel. Of course, the most notable; the focal point of all scripture, the One who outshines them all is that re-born Adam, that God in the flesh, Jesus Christ.
MESSIAH
Jesus Christ gathered disciples together and taught them for about three years. At the pinnacle of His ministry, according to the plan of God from the beginning, Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. Arising from the dead on the thi
rd day, He opened the understanding of His disciples as he taught them for forty days. He then commissioned His disciples to preach the Gospel starting at Jerusalem.
There the birth of the church came with explosive power as recorded in the book of Acts. The Lord added daily to the church and it continued to be built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone.
THE GOSPEL GOES ON

From this early church, the Gospel was rapidly taken around the world and many great revivals and awakenings have ensued in the earth as Christ continues to take dominion through the church.
JESUS NAME PENTECOSTAL CHURCH (1976)
This local segment of Christ’s work began its journey to where it is today when Pastor Glenn Burgess moved his family from Waynesborough, Mississippi to the state of Washington. He, his family, and eight others gathered together in the 25 X 45 foot building for his first service as pastor in Centralia, Washington July, 1976. Spiritual and numerical growth followed as the blessings of the Lord were poured out. The saints of God worked heartily, being used as instruments of righteousness for the plan of God.
NEW PROPERTY (1980)
In 1980, seeing the need for expansion and being led by the Spirit of the Lord, Pastor Glenn Burgess led the congregation to step out in faith. Three acres near Interstate 5 in Chehalis, a twin city to Centralia, were purchased. A plan was put in place to move the church from its cramped facilities on the “other side of the tracks” to a location on one of America’s main thoroughfares.
TIME TO BUILD (1983)
Three years later funds had been raised to erect a building on the new property and a building project began. Former Philippines Missionary Arthur Dillon came to Chehalis in order to oversee the construction of this brand new facility. He offered his time and expertise for the duration of the entire endeavor without expectation of an hourly wage.
Jesus Name Pentecostal Church continued to be a light to the cities of Centralia and Chehalis while the walls of their new sanctuary were built and God continued to bless. Excited about the work of God and his helping hand, the church moved into their new facility and dedicated it to the Lord, in August, 1985.

"CONTINUE IN MY WORD" (1985)
Not without tests and opposition, Jesus Name Pentecostal Church continued the "work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." Bringing the Gospel to the inhabitants of the city remained
a central theme in the messages of Pastor Burgess. The message was received and produced a faith that God had called many to salvation. Tent revivals, special meetings, prayer, fasting and solid weekly preaching and teaching helped to keep the church on course.
ROOM TO GROW (1993)
God led the way for many projects, both spiritual and earthly and in 1993 it was time to build another sanctuary. The church had outgrown the sanctuary and needed room to expand. Plans were made for a new 4,700 sq. ft. building which contained a 44 ft. by 74 ft. sanctuary. Construction was begun in late 1993 and the people had a mind to work. The building was completed in early 1995.

JESUS NAME CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (2000)
Throughout the remaining years of the nineties and into the new millennium, Jesus Name Church continued to be a beacon of hope and salvation.
In early 2000, Pastor Burgess began to have a burden to better equip young men and women to approach the challenges of life. He and several members of the congregation discussed the
possibilities of starting a new school in order to provide daily influence and education to the children of the congregation. Pastor Burgess asked Evangelist Michael Klahn of California, to direct the development of the new school. Evangelist Klahn, Pastor Burgess and the congregation worked hard for several months to remodel the facility that would house the school.
Bro. Klahn set up learning procedures, designed office flow and worked to educate Pastor Glenn Burgess and Youth Director Shannon Burgess on various aspects of the school. In June, Pastor Burgess and Shannon Burgess traveled to Lewisville Texas to complete their training in the School of Tomorrow Learning Centers.
September brought with it the excitement of a new dimension of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church and on September 5th, 2000 the first day of class at Jesus Name Christian Academy was held. This element of the church has been and still is a major component in the overall plan and focus of the church. Parents, the church and the school work together to promote a healthy God-consciousness to young minds.

NEED FOR EXPANSION (2008)
Anticipating the need for expansion Pastor Glenn Burgess, Associate Pastor Shannon Burgess, and Jesus Name Pentecostal Church family united to begin building a new multi-purpose building in order to facilitate further development and growth. This building was the first phase of a multi-year project to facilitate aggressive evangelism, effective discipleship and continued growth.

Retirement/Installation (2009)
On July 12, 2009 Pastor Glenn Burgess formally ended his tenure as Senior Pastor of Jesus Name Pentecostal Church. After 33 years of labor in that capacity he and his wife handed off the responsibility to Pastor Shannon Burgess and Sister Britt Burgess. There were 54 fellow ministers in attendance to be a part of the event. The celebration was a bittersweet time for the church family as they were sad to see Pastor Glenn Burgess go; yet, they were excited about the future and their new pastor, Pastor Shannon Burgess. As a token of thanks for the many years of service contributed, the church offered the fitting gift of a 1936 Plymouth to drive through his golden years.

Present (2011 - )

Believing that Jeremiah 29:11 applies not only to Jewish exiles in the 6th century BC, Jesus Name Pentecostal Church eagerly looks to the future and hope that God has planned for the church.
Without apology we are going to highways and hedges compelling people to come fill the house of the Lord as we seek to obey the Great Commission. We know that it is the not the His desire that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance. Therefore we are looking to evangelize according to the measure of rule which God has distributed to us (Chehalis, Centralia and surrounding area); with hope that as our faith is increased God will enlarge us accordingly so that we may preach the gospel in regions beyond our immediate area.

ONE DAY
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound. The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first, and we shall be changed.
The mortal shall put on mortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? Then we which a re a live and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
